NCCU Ltd holds Virtual Scholarship Awards Ceremony

Seventeen (17) students were on Wednesday August 25th, 2021 presented with scholarships from the National Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. This marks the 11th year of the institutions support to students beginning their high school tenure. The virtual ceremony was one with a difference in keeping with the current Covid-19 guidelines and protocols and the first of its kind for the institution.

Mr. Aylmer A. Irish, Chief Executive Officer of NCCU, encouraged the recipients to study hard and make the best use of the opportunity they’ve been given that many wished that they had, to make their parents and guardians proud while bringing satisfaction to the members of the NCCU. He went on to remind them that the only limitation is the one they place on themselves by their own thinking and that there are in fact no limitations to what they can do or be.

President of the Board of Directors Mrs. Josephine Dublin began her remarks by imploring all to cooperate and adhere to all guidelines provided by medical professionals in our fight against Covid-19. She gave insight into the scholarships which were to be presented and highlighted the role of the institution in society and the support which it continues to provide for all. The seventeen 2021 scholarships bring the number of students supported by the NCCU to seventy-two (72) and the number of scholarships awarded increased over the years from seven (7) to seventeen (17). Mrs. Dublin took the opportunity to encourage members to do transactions online especially during the times we are currently faced with and commended the staff of the NCCU for continuing to provide members with service in these difficult times.

Two scholarship recipients Danika Neisha Marie Paul and Jerquan George gave acknowledgements, thanking the NCCU for the much needed assistance and reminded us that though planning is important we ought to be mindful not to over plan lest we miss the chance to experience and enjoy that which we are planning.  In the same vein parents Denver Dublin and Rachel Jno Baptiste echoed the acknowledgements of the recipients as they thanked the institution for its support.

The entire ceremony can be viewed on the NCCU Ltd’s Facebook page.
