New Foreign Player Joins Dominica As They Face Off With Nicaragua Tonight
A new foreign player has joined the Dominica senior women’s national football team to lock horns with Nicaragua tonight. Dominica will face off with Nicaragua after beating Turks and Caicos 8-1 two weeks ago. Head coach Albert Titre said the victory over Turks and Caicos has motivated the female players to go on all out against Nicaragua.
The match will kick off at 8 p.m. local time at the Estadio Nacional De Futbol in Managua as part of the CONCACAF world qualifiers football competition.
Titre said the players are very motivated to play Nicaragua and expressed hopes that Dominica will beat their opponent again to qualify.
The new foreign player, Ronia Pierre-Louis, will join five other overseas players who are now part of the Dominican team to qualify for the CONCACAF tournament. The other newest players are Kenisha Jno Lewis, Tamisha Roberts, Shante Hazel, and Juanita Barber among others.
I feel really proud; it’s been a journey just to be able to represent Dominica. I was not born or raised in Dominica, but my parents are very proud of their country. I love it [Dominica] and I love to represent it. So the fact that I was able to come and represent the country in this manner is really a dream come true. And I can’t be happier. I think I will also be able to bring my experience on the physical side…I am a physical player and a very technical player; and I’m not afraid to attempt a goal, but I can just pass to my teammates to share the field. So I think that is something I can definitely bring to the table.
Ronia Pierre-Louis
