New Health and Wellness Centre in Mahaut Named After Nurse Esprit Murphy
The new government-built health and wellness centre in Mahaut constituency has been named after Nurse Esprit Murphy. The community health facility was commissioned by Rayburn Blackmoore, the parliamentary representative for the constituency.
Blackmoore said the health centre will cater to the needs of everyone in Mahaut without minding their political, social, or religious orientations. He said the centre has state-of-the-art health equipment that will improve the health and wellness of the Mahaut people. He noted that the government is keen on providing unhindered healthcare access to everyone in Dominica and that the residents of Mahaut are not exempted.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Kenneth Darroux disclosed that access to quality healthcare at the primary level is the inalienable right of every Dominican. He stated that the current government understands that healthcare is a fundamental right, and this stance drives the government’s efforts at getting everyone vaccinated with the available Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Darroux said receiving the COVID-19 vaccine comes at no cost to anyone and urged all Dominicans to get the shot since this would protect individuals and the entire nation from the scourge of the coronavirus pandemic. He praised the Skerrit-led administration for sourcing for sufficient vaccines to inoculate all citizens, including foreigners and tourists with a view to generating adequate herd immunity.
