A new political party has emerged in Dominica, and it will launch in Calibishie in August. Named the Dominica Team Unity Party (DTUP) or simply Team Unity Party (TUP), the leaders of the party said they are ready to contest the next general elections and promised to stay in government for two 5-year tenures.
The Leadership of the New Political Party Comprises:

- Carlos Charles – Deputy General Secretary
- Kendra Stephen – Executive President
- Kenton St. Jean
- Erwin Emmanuel
The party founders said the new party was birthed to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the Dominican people. They lamented that the populace has lost faith in the present government, and that TUP will “reignite political action from people in every sphere of the Dominican society.”
The party has chosen “Faity, Love and Unity” as its slogan and its major keyword is “Together!” or “United!”
Having adopted the Fork as its electoral symbol, the executives of the party said they are not “a left, right or centrist party” and that their ideology is rooted in the fundamental demands of the Dominican people.
“TUP envisions the creation of a Dominica which will be better recognized for its natural splendor and the identity…the party’s platform will be a rallying cry and promotion of the Dominican agenda,” the party stated.
TUD disclosed in a media release that it will publicize its constitutional framework with members of the public every Sunday at 3 pm. The party’s Facebook page already has 132 followers and 128 likes; and the new political party is also active on Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok.
For reference, Alex Bruno who is one of the founding members of TUP was also a founding member of the Alternative People’s Party (APP) which is currently trying to gain political traction in Dominica. Meanwhile, Dominica’s Team United Party may have been inspired by the Team Unity of the People’s Labour Party of St. Kitts and Nevis under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris who won the 2020 general elections in that country.
