According to Tahira Blanchard, the new political party is all about getting women and youths involved in politics with the sole aim of giving them better representation in government. She described the APP as a “centre-right political movement built on firm democratic principles…for a better, fairer, and brighter future for every Dominican.”
The interim president said the party is now rolling up its sleeves to empower grassroot voters since this is a “new era of representation” and “we are ready to be your bridge to the next Dominican government.” She stated that everyone will be duly represented in the new party and that everyone is free to utilize the party’s social media platforms for meaningful discussions and progressive inputs.
Blanchard said the APP is not opposed to divergent views and that the power and uniqueness of democracy lies in its recognition of the opposition.
“Explore our social media platforms, peruse our plans and tell us what you think, as we are always ready and willing to engage in a meaningful discussion,” she said. “Let us agree or disagree with the oneness of purpose, as we can all agree that it is time to transform the electoral political traditions of the island for the better.”
The first annual convention of the new party scheduled for May 16 will hold in Glanvillia, Portsmouth, from 2 pm. It will be the opportunity members of the public needs to meet with the executive board of the APP as well as other keyholders.
