Online Workers Wanted To Stay and Work Remotely In Dominica – Colin Piper
The director of tourism, Colin Piper, has revealed that the government is working on a plan to enable online workers to come to Dominica to stay while working remotely from the Isle Island. He said the initiative will go hand-in-hand with a destination awareness campaign which is to be launched to attract more visitors to the country.
According to Piper, the government is working on an internet campaign called “In Our Nature” where foreigners from other countries of the world will be exposed to the natural wonders of Dominica through digital technologies.
“From a marketing perspective we are about to launch a destination awareness campaign under the theme: In our Nature,” he said. “It allows us to get about 35 million impressions out there and from that we hope that when people see the web banner and the click on the landing and go to the page we will be able to entice them to sign up and give us their E-mail ID’s.”
The tourism director explained that the government will be partnering with Expedia and other online travel agencies to retarget potential visitors and then convince them to visit Dominica. He noted that Expedia has millions of travelers using the platform to learn about attractive destinations and to book for trips around the world. He added that 50% of travellers that come to the Caribbean use Expedia to plan their journey.
The digital effort to lure online workers to work remotely from Dominica and the marketing campaign to attract visitors to the country via the In Our Nature initiative are expected to last throughout this year, and it is anticipated that the efforts will boost the tourism industry and increase government revenue in no small measure.
