Persons Aged 18 and Above Should Get Vaccinated As Dominica Grows Stronger

Given the fact that Dominica is on the path to economic recovery and the vitality of the pre-COVID-19 era, PM Roosevelt Skerrit said he wants everyone above the age of 18 to get vaccinated. Although the government is not mandating COVID-19 vaccination, the Skerrit-led administration said it would be better if everyone gets vaccinated voluntarily.

The prime minister urged youths 18 years and older to get the vaccine since this would help the country achieve herd immunity faster. The Dominican leader said everyone should understand the benefits of the vaccines and get a shot to stand a chance against coronavirus infection. He said that numerous studies underscore the fact that the benefits of vaccination outweigh any supposed risks.

While announcing that requirement protocols for vaccinated people coming into the country will soon be modified, he revealed that more than 10,000 Dominicans have received their two full shots and 8,000 have gotten their first shots. He said that he is encouraged by the growing number of people that have received the shots and urged many others to do the same.

Skerrit also stated that though the Dominican economy is not yet where it was before the coronavirus pandemic, he said the country is improving greatly and that the income tax and VAT revenue show a true status of the country’s current improvement ratio.
