PM Skerrit Appoints Nigerian Gospel Musician, Sinach, as Global Ambassador
Nigerian gospel music artiste, Sinach, has reportedly become a Dominican global ambassador. She was reportedly appointed by PM Roosevelt Skerrit to promote Dominica as a top tourism and investment island through her global brand of music. Sinach and her family as well as team had often visited Dominica, and she shared the news of her appointment on social media on February 9.
The famous gospel star appreciated Skerrit; the Acting High Commissioner of Dominica to the UK, Janet Charles; and the entire people of Dominica for the honour. She promised to wield her global influence in the entertainment industry to reposition and rebrand Dominica as a prime tourism destination among other development initiatives. “I look forward to serving in the development of the Commonwealth of Dominica,” she stated.
While the Dominican government has not official publicized Sinach’s appointment as a global ambassador, the influential musician posted an excerpt of Skerrit’s expectations for her as an ambassador.
“Given your international reach with a following of over 1.8 million and having demography listeners and followership cutting across over 100 countries, your assignment will be to assist in the promotion of the Commonwealth of Dominican’s national interest in various fields and more specifically to use your global influence to promote the Commonwealth of Dominica as an attractive destination for tourism and investment,” Skerrit wrote in her letter of appointment.
With this appointment as a global ambassador, Sinach will now be addressed as “Her/Your Excellency” when being addressed or referred to. Sinach is the first African gospel artiste to win the Song of the Year award at Dove Award held annual as an international gospel music award event. One of her hit-tracks, Waymaker, was streamed more than 200 million times since its release some years ago.
