PM Skerrit Issues Names of Distinguished Persons for National Day Awards
This year’s National Day Awards is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, November 3. It will take off by 9 a.m. at the State House in a short ceremony to be directed by President Charles Savarin. The ceremony should have held at the stadium but was shifted to the State House due to the risks of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit identified some of the people to be honoured at this year’s awards and what they are to be honoured for. According to the prime minister, the following is a list of some of the awardees to be celebrated for various contributions instrumental for the overall development of the Commonwealth of Dominica:
- Lennox Lawrence – legal services and the public sector
- Stella LeBlanc – health and community development
- Ronald Green – politics and community development
- Priscilla Prevost – health
- Gregory Rabess – culture
- Gregory Shillingford – sports and agriculture
- Telford Shillingford – telecommunication and agriculture
- Clyde Ferreira – agriculture and trade
- Curvin Stevenson – agriculture
- Martin Anthony Scotland – environmental health
- Luther Martin – education
- Andrew Durand – tailoring
- Timothy Moise – education and culture
- Sonia Felix – community upliftment and altruism
- Mervin Alexander – education and community development
While many of them were simple people who did their best for the development of the country, some of them are former ministers and government officials in various capacities.
“So these are the people that have been selected this year for the national awards,” PM Roosevelt Skerrit reveald. “We congratulate all of them and we thank them for their service to the Commonwealth of Dominica.”
