PM Skerrit Prays For 852 Students Sitting For G6NA Exam across 108 Centres
PM Roosevelt Skerrit continues to pray for the success of 852 students sitting for the Grade Six National Assessment (G6NA) examination across 108 centres. The prime minister also asked parents and all Dominicans to pray for the success of the students, asking that the Holy Spirit would enable them to recall all they have studied for the examinations.
“Let us pray that the Lord calms their nerves and anxiety, so that they remember all that they were taught and answer the questions to the best of their abilities,” he urged. “Holy Spirit, sit with them in each of the 108 centres and give them strength to both complete their exams and succeed in their future endeavours, as they grow and seek to contribute as citizens in the building of our society.”
Given the current COVID-19 situation in the country and across the world, the government has implemented health protocols to safeguard the health of the students during the examination. For starters, the examination will be held for one day only from 8am to 2pm instead of the usual two days used for the examinations in the past. Students shall be mandated to wear face masks during the exercise, and shall not exceed 10 in number per room.
According to the Minister for Education, Octavia Alfred, the education ministry takes the health and wellness of all students very seriously and has instituted measures to ensure they do not get infected with coronavirus during the exercise.
She said the examination venues have been disinfected and that seating arrangement is properly distanced to prevent the spread of COVID-19. She added that students will be asked to frequently wash and sanitize their hands before and after examination too.
“We have considered the health and sanitation needs of the students sitting the exams,” the education minister stated. “Sanitation guidelines will be enforced, including frequent hand washing and sanitization of hands. Students gatherings will not be encouraged.”
Alfred encouraged the students to demonstrate all they had learnt in the examination, and tasked them to also trust in God for success.
