Police Arrest and Quarantine Two Men after 48 Hours Search in Govt Facility
Acting Deputy Chief of Police, Davidson Valerie, has announced to reporters that the police caught and quarantined two men at the government facility. He said the police had been on the trails of the men for two days before public information led to their arrest. He credited members of the public with valuable information that helped with the arrest of the men.
Valerie noted that the police checked out all the information received from the public before arrests were made, and that other reported persons who were not arrested were cleared by security agencies. He identified with the fears of the people and promised that the police would do everything in their power to protect lives and property.
The acting DCP also disclosed that many quarantined people in Portsmouth are conducting themselves properly and cooperating with health professionals. He said many of them have been tested and awaiting PCR results to determine if they are COVID-19 positive or negative. He said the government will no longer tolerate unruly behavior from people in isolation centers, and that anyone who failed to submit to 14 days of mandatory quarantine after entering the country is committing a punishable offense.
Let me inform these individuals that the law makes it mandatory that anyone coming into Dominica, on arrival shall be quarantined for a period of 14 days or a period specified in writing by the Chief Medical Officer. Let me remind you that from March to June 2020 Dominica embarked on drastic and necessary measures to include total lockdown with a view to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
