Police Arrest Man over Death of Petite Savanne Man; DPF Gets Crime Equipment
Police PRO Inspector Simon Edwards has revealed that the body of 63-year-old Avandale Anselm of Petite Savanne has been deposited to the Gentle Rest Funeral Home. Edwards said police officers were called to Anselm’s home on March 8 where he was found with multiple wounds to his body.
He said the injured man was transported to the Roseau Health Centre where a medical doctor pronounced him dead after examining him. His body was then moved to a funeral home to await autopsy.
However, police Superintendent Richmond Valentine said investigations are still ongoing and that the incident is deemed a homicide. He added that a man has been arrested in connection with the death and that he is helping the police in their investigations.
Meanwhile, Dominica Police Chief Daniel Carbon stated that the police have received investigation kits to help with resolving crimes at crime scenes. Carbon said the equipment was given by the Regional Police Association to help Dominica with immediate crime investigations at crime scenes.
Executive Director of the Regional Security System (RSS), Captain Errington Shirland, said the RSS headquarters has embraced technology to help with crime detection and community policing among other things.
