Police to Conduct Traffic Management for UWP Event in Newtown
Police authorities announced that they would be taking over traffic situations so that a scheduled UWP event in Newtown can hold without problems. Police PRO Simon Edwards directed that vehicles going to Newtown and other southern communities can use the Morne Bruce road. These vehicles on reaching the junction of lower Morne Bruce road and Centre Street and Kings Hill can continue to Backstreet Kings Hill straight to Melville Battery road in order to reach the Newtown public road.
“Motorist travelling south along bath road will be diverted to the Morne Bruce main road to exit at backstreet Kings Hill onto Victoria Street,” Edwards explained.
He further explained that one-lane parking will be allowed on Victoria Street from the junction of High Street and Melville Battery road. No parking of vehicles will be allowed on Bath Road from the junction of Independence Street and Morne Bruce.
“Motorists travelling north along Victoria Street in the vicinity of DBS radio will be diverted right unto High Street unto Bath Road,” Edwards said. “Motorists will not be allowed to travel in every direction along Victoria Street between the round-about to the junction of High street.”
According to Edwards, an emergency lane will be left open and not closed from free vehicular traffic. He said the area of Cornwall Street connecting High Street and Bath Road will be used as an emergency lane, and only local access will be permitted in the area. However, in the city of Roseau, he said motorists can park their cars anywhere they want.
The UWP activity will feature plans of the party’s youths to demonstrate what they hope to do for the country in the event that the party wins the coming election. The youths in their manifesto revealed that they have lots of lofty initiatives that will benefit the country and look forward to executing these once they get into government.
