Melissa Poponne Skerrit has outlined her development plans for Roseau as promised during electioneering campaigns. Ms. Skerrit is the newly elected parliamentary representative for Roseau Central.
Some of her development plans for her consistuency include –
- Restoration and upgrade of the Botanical Gardens
- Private car parks to relieve traffic congestion in the city
- Expansion of High Street and other major roads for better vehicular movement
- Construction of a new government building
- Renovation of the central market
- Installation of free and public Wi-Fi network for internet accessibility
- Renovation and rehabilitation of the Arawak House of Culture
- Renovation and upgrade to historic buildings such as the –
- Newtown Community Hall
- City Council Block
- Baracoon Building
- Roseau Health Centre
- Public Library
The new Roseau Central MP said the developmental projects will create jobs, relieve traffic holdups, upgrade public infrastructures, create green spaces and urban ecosystems, enhance social interactions and recreation, restore iconic and historic buildings, as well as boost night-life for musical performances and live theatre.
MP Skerrit said she remains committed to fulfilling all the electoral promises she made to the people of her consistuency, and that as time goes on, people will see all the campaign promises implemented.
