Portsmouth Secondary School Sets Up Teachers Taskforce to Combat COVID-19

Portsmouth Secondary School (PSS) has set up a taskforce comprising of teachers to combat Coronavirus within and outside the school. There has not been any incidence of COVID-19 infection in Dominica, but everyone is getting proactive to tackle the disease in case it surfaces on the island.

The PSS is the first school in Dominica to take this initiative, and the constituted taskforce has begun meetings with members of the school community to spread awareness and guidelines regarding the disease. Some of the meetings are scheduled with students, parents, cleaners, security guards, and other stakeholders in the school system.

The taskforce also printed posters and flyers which were posted in conspicuous places around the school compound. The team also plans to brew bush tea which is aimed at boosting the immune system on Thursday. Furthermore, the team also produced educational videos to sensitize parents and students on the risks of COVID-19 and how to tackle it if it ever occurs in Dominica.

Members of the general public have lauded the management of PSS for the initiative and encouraged other schools in the country to do the same. They stated that coronavirus will be defeated if everyone became proactive in dealing with it before it shows up on the island.
