The President’s Charities Foundation Incorporation hosted school children to one week of Summer Fun Days program. Participants at the event were pupils from the Roseau Primary School and the Chances Home in Jimmit and were aged 5 to 13. It is usually an annual program hosting school pupils to a Christmas party, but this year’s program held at a different period.
The one-week event had various programs designed for each day. Each day’s program was facilitated by First Lady Clara Savarin, the Dominica Police Force, and Tasha Peltier. The sessions included Cultural Infusion, Fun on the Greens, Tourist for a Day, Dining Etiquette, T-Shirt Tye Dye, and a pep-talk on respecting the law.
The students also paid a visit to Digicel headquarters and were received by Nikima Royer-Jno-Baptiste, Digicel’s country manager. They were equally at the Dominica Fire and Ambulance Station on Bath Road where they examined a fire truck. And they were also at the Cabrits National Park where they explored various attractions at the park.
This year’s program was sponsored by Sagicor Insurance and the Sports Division. The pupils were able to participate in playing lime and spoon as well as other interactive games put together by the sponsors to promote physical and mental fitness.
The President of Dominica, His Excellency Charles Savarin, was also at the event where he interacted with the pupils and they showed off what they had learned during the summer fun program. Fully incorporated in July 2006, the President’s Charities Foundation Incorporated was established by former Dominican President, His Excellency the late Dr. Nicholas J. O. Liverpool, who set it up as an NGO dedicated to raise funds for other NGOs in the country.
