Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, accompanied by a Cabinet Delegation, recently embarked on a tour of Marigot. Joining him were Hon. Dr. Irving McIntyre, Hon. Roland Royer, Hon. Cassanni Laville, Hon. Fidel Grant, and senior public officers, including Permanent Secretaries. The visit aimed to address concerns raised by constituents and explore opportunities for economic growth in the community.
During the tour, the government team made stops at significant locations, including the Wills Strathmore Stevens Primary School and the Marigot Fisheries Complex. They also assessed the progress of works on the Valley, Captain Bruce, and Cayenn Buc Feeder Roads. Hon. Anthony Charles, the Parliamentary Representative for Marigot, warmly welcomed the Prime Minister and led the delegation to various parts of the community.
Prime Minister Skerrit expressed his commitment to Marigot’s development, emphasizing that the area possesses the talent and potential for growth. He stressed the importance of harnessing these talents to benefit the community and pledged to visit the area more frequently to ensure promises made are fulfilled.
One key area of focus is small business loans, with approximately $12 million remaining from the allotted $27 million. The Prime Minister encouraged residents to take advantage of these opportunities, and he offered support from the small business unit and the AID Bank to assist in accessing the loans.
Hon. Anthony Charles acknowledged the need to collaborate with the ruling government to drive progress in the constituency. He appreciated the Prime Minister’s promise to assist in every possible way to propel Marigot forward and expressed confidence that collaboration and fine-tuning would pave the way for positive developments.
Immediate attention will be given to clearing storm drains in Over Gutter and advancing works on the Valley, Captain Bruce, and Cayenn Buc Feeder Roads.
The Government is fully committed to working closely with Hon. Anthony Charles and the residents of Marigot to address their concerns and foster continued collaboration. Prime Minister Skerrit looks forward to returning to the area for further discussions with constituents in September, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Marigot’s development and progress.
