For the fishery complex in Roseau, the fishery building and exterior facilities as well as office spaces will be reconstructed. The cold storage facility and ice-block machines will also be installed, while other rehabilitations will include the fish processing equipment, fish quality inspection unit, and workshop facility. Containers for fish, platform scale, and VHF radio equipment will also be made available. A consultancy department will also be provided for bidding, procurement, and marketing services.
Before the devastation of Hurricane Maria in 2017, more than 300 fishermen from Scotts Head and St. Joseph carried out fishing activities at the fishery complex in Roseau; and over 135 fishermen and fish vendors worked at the Marigot fishery complex. But the hurricane disrupted the business and destroyed most of the buildings and fishery business equipment.
