Results of the Pointe Michel Village Council Elections Held On Monday
The Pointe Michel village council elections held on Monday, September 21 and over 500 people turned out enmasse for the voting exercise. Observers said the voting continued past the 5 p.m. cut-off deadline the last voter cast his vote around 6:30 p.m. since people queued up so much for the exercise.
Contestants for the community village council numbered 16, and they all expressed excitement with the large turnout of voters.
Following the final collation of the votes, the emerged results are as follows:
- Sonia Felix – 233 votes
- James Delaunay – 229 votes
- John Blanchard – 214 votes
- Erica Lewis-Jules – 204 votes
- Matthias Peltier Jr. – 193 votes
James Delaunay is a first-time contender in the polls and he came overall second in the results. The total number of officials for the council is eight; the community will vote five and the government will appoint three. From the total eight members, a chairperson will be voted from among them by them. Erica Lewis-Jules is the council chairperson for six years now.
