Road Project, Emergency Shelter, and Slaughter House at CBSS in Castle Bruce

A plethora of construction projects are currently being executed in Castle Bruce Constituency under the leadership of Honourable Octavia Alfred. These projects include a new road project in Good Hope, a $16 million regional emergency shelter in Castle Bruce, and the $632,217 construction of a slaughterhouse and two greenhouses at the Castle Bruce Secondary School (CBSS).

The contract for the Good Hope Road Project was signed on April 8 and PM Roosevelt Skerrit said the execution of the project is a testament of the government’s goodwill towards the people of Castle Bruce Constituency. He said the Labour Party is supportive of Alfred’s developmental visions for the constituency and will support her in every way possible to raise the standards of living for the people of the parish.

Hon. Alfred said the road construction will generate employment opportunities for people in the region and will facilitate the generation of quality services. She said students will get to school on time at the CBSS and people will reach the San Sauveur Health Centre faster to access quality healthcare while farmers will experienced reduced travel time to market their farm produce – all on account of the new Good Hope road project.

Meanwhile, the new regional emergency shelter in Castle Bruce will also cater to the needs of the people in the Kalinago Territory and the surrounding region.

In the same vein, the DLP administration has partnered with the Basic Needs Trust Fund to construct a slaughter house and two greenhouses at CBSS with the intention of bolstering the school food production programme. According to Alfred, students will eat healthier diets prepared in the school kitchen and this will help them grow well and also understand the importance of healthy diets.

Furthermore, an $850,000 emergency operations centre that was facilitated by CREAD is also being built in Good Hope to minimize the natural incidence of landslides, floods, and hurricanes on the people of the area. The emergency facility is scheduled for completion by July.
