Robbers Stole $25,000 From Astaphan Stores; Police Solicit Public Assistance
The police have called for public information that may lead to the arrest of armed robbers who reportedly stole $25,000 from Astaphan Stores. According to police sources, about three robbers attacked the Fond Cole store and held employees hostage at gun points and demanded for cash and valuables.
The bandits were said to have hit a staff on the head and injured another who is receiving medical treatment at the moment. There were six employees at the store at the time of the incident which reportedly occurred around 5:30 pm.
Following a tip-off, police officers swarmed the store and mounted a massive search but the robbers escaped. CID Chief, Superintendent Mathew Cuffy, has enlisted the help of the general public for information that could aid the arrest of the culprits.
The management of Astaphan Stores is yet to make any public statement on the incident, but they are cooperating with the police to facilitate the arrest of the robbers. The staffers that were injured in the incident are responding to treatment.
