Rotary Club of Dominica Facilitates $104,500 Web Training for Building Skills
The Rotary Club of Dominica has facilitated the provision of an online training programme aimed at providing internet construction skills to interested citizens. The online facility is worth $104,500 and provided in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Orleans in Canada and the Rotary Club of Nepean-Kanata, also in Canada.
The online training facility is designed to empower individuals who desire to master the art and technology of constructing climate-resilient houses in the country.
The programme is initiated by Rotary Club of Dominica but executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training, and National Excellence, Ministry of Telecommunications and Broadcasting, Dominica State College and the Builders and Contractors Association of Dominica.
The website facility was developed by JERA Group, Canada, and includes a Learning Management System (LMS) as well as Smart Classrooms in Dominica and Canada.
Potential trainees have hailed the programme as a good development and applauded the Skerrit administration for empowering Dominican citizens through economic initiatives that would make them self-independent and job creators. The online job training for skilled trades will kick off soon and the government promises to announce the starting date once all resources have been put in place.
