Rotary Club Donates Computers and Kitchen Supplies worth EC$35,000
Rotary Club donated computers and kitchen supplies worth EC$35,000 to primary schools in Dominica. The Rotary Club of Portsmouth gave out laptops, charging stations, Wi-Fi routers, and kitchen supplies to primary schools. The computers were given to Paix Bouche Primary School and the refrigerator and other kitchen supplies were donated to Savanne Paille Primary School.
The donation was made in association with Rotary Clubs in Florida and Barbados and All Hands and Heart Charity organizations.
The Rotary Club of Portsmouth looks forward to taking another delivery of 1,600 computers more in November for distribution to other schools. For the Rotary Club, the month of September is the Basic Education and Literary Month.
School principals expressed joy at the donations, saying their schools will put them to good use. Principal of the Savanne Paille Primary School, Martha Austrie, said it is wonderful that the donors gave worthy gifts that will serve generations to recipients they do not know or hope to know in person.
“We want to say how thankful we are,” Austrie said. “The people from whom these funds came to purchase these items for us don’t know us. This always says a lot to me; it’s always a very good thing to me when I realise how far people can go to assist those whom they do not know. That out of the warmth of their hearts they are willing to do this and they go the extra mile. They do a lot of voluntary things to assist those who are in need. We say thank you.”
District Governor of the Caribbean Rotary Club, Trevor Blake, was on hand to represent the charity organization and make the presentation ceremonies a delight.
