Seven Karate Students May Soon Attain Black Belts in Dominica

Seven karate students may soon attain Black Belts in Dominica. This revelation was given by Shihan Shannah Robin, a karate instructor who conducted Under Black Belt Testing for 41 students at the Universal Martial Arts Academy International recently. All the 41 students were examined for their suitability for Yellow Belt and Brown Belt with the most outstanding seven going on to test for Black Belt next year.

Robin, who has been a Martial Arts instructor for over 20 years, described the Black Belt testing just concluded in Dominica as historical. He said he is proud of the students and their determination to succeed, despite the fact that a number of them had physical challenges. For instance, a 7-year-old girl with food poisoning refused not to quit at the tests; a boy who just received 19 stitches two days before for an injury said he wouldn’t quit, and another boy with knee injury scaled through the tests.

Robin, who said this karate examination was the hardest ever conducted in Dominica, commended the 41 students for their mental strength, physical endurance, and body fitness throughout the exercise. “The standard was second to none,” he stated. “They practice their integrity by not giving up no matter what was thrown at them.”

The master karate instructor said while many of the students did well for their Yellow and Brown belts, only seven will be moving on to test for their Black Belt next year March.

“The attained the rank of brown belt first Q on target for their black belt,” Robin explained. “That means after brown belt first Q on target, that means their next exams would be black belt exams, so by next year March we will have an extra 7 people once they pass their exams attaining their black belts, both male and female in Dominica.”

Two weeks earlier, Robin coached another set of karate students in his martial arts school in Canada. About 22 students sat for the examinations and they all emerged victorious and currently moving ahead to the next ranks in the karate system. He appreciated parents who released their wards for the tests and also thanked karate instructors Larry and Jodie for their assistance.
