Severin McKenzie of the Electoral Reform Coalition (ERC), is playing a pivotal role in organizing the Dominica Economic Revival Summit. This initiative represents a significant effort to address Dominica’s economy’s comprehensive challenges by integrating various sectors into a unified development strategy.
The summit originating from a conference focused on tourism and agriculture, McKenzie and the ERC proposed expanding the summit’s scope to include critical sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, renewable energy, and the blue and green economy. This expanded focus aims to foster a holistic approach to the economic issues at hand, creating a master plan that will serve as a roadmap for future development.
During the summit’s official launch at the Garraway Hotel, McKenzie expressed his concerns about Dominica’s current economic state and emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy that encompasses all sectors. He highlighted the summit’s goal of not only addressing immediate economic challenges but also laying the groundwork for long-term sustainable growth.
McKenzie also mentioned the ERC’s ongoing activities aimed at accelerating the process of electoral and economic reform. He noted a recent encouraging meeting with the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, which further aligns with the ERC’s goals of systemic change.
As an architect, McKenzie stressed the importance of careful planning in national development. He is driving the summit with the clear message that “failure to plan is to plan for failure,” urging all Dominicans to engage actively in this critical initiative. Under McKenzie’s guidance, the economic revival summit is set to be a key event in charting Dominica’s path toward economic stability and growth.
