Shihan Shannah Robin Wins Karate Teacher of the Year Award in New Jersey

Dominican martial artist, Shihan Shannah Robin, has won the World Karate Teacher of the Year award in New Jersey, USA. The award is the highest in its category in the world, and thousands of people have congratulated Robin for making Dominica proud with the award.

Following the presentation of the award at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Robin said the occasion was “a dream come true” given his fervent passion for martial arts. He thanked his stars for how far he has come in the martial arts world, and said it is a rare priviledge to rub shoulders with world-renowned martial legends such as Michael Jai White among others.

“This is big for me, a rare opportunity,” Robin said of Michael Jai White. “I was very privileged to be in his presence and to rub shoulders with him is more than words can talk about.”

Robin who was also inducted into the martial arts Hall of Fame in the United States thanked the people of Dominica for their support, and he disclosed that it is a great honour to represent the Nature Island in America.

Robin holds a 7th degree Black Belt, the highest attained by any Dominican. He said he looks forward to bringing Michael Jai White to motivate youths in schools in Dominica. The celebrated martial artist said he is working with the Ministry of Tourism and other corporate sponsors to bring Jai White to the island.
