Skerrit is Recolonizing Dominica with Foreign Passport Holders – Gabriel Christian
A United States-based attorney of Dominican extraction, Gabriel Christian, has accused PM Roosevelt Skerrit of treachery and sabotage with his call for snap elections on December 6. Christian said the prime minister is working to recolonize Dominica again through the votes of foreign passport holders.
He alleged that Skerrit has sold tens of thousands of Dominican passports and citizenship to foreigners who will be able to vote in elections, and whose votes the prime minister aims to commandeer to perpetuate himself in office.
You kept millions [of CBI funds], billions outside of Dominica, outside the consolidated funds in offshore banks. Then you will be able to recolonize, I believe, our country and you will never leave power because you have the vote of those who have paid you for a passport.

The attorney urged Dominicans to come out in masses to mount a powerful resistance against the election bid of the prime minister and the DLP government. He said Skerrit must be a “dictator” for calling for snap election when it is actually constitutionally due in the next two years. He went on to declare that the most honourable thing for the prime minister to do at this time is to resign immediately.
I am a born Dominican and I will die a born Dominican, nothing will change that. We will never surrender our flag, and that is why we are asking for popular resistance to the dictatorship of Roosevelt Skerrit because that is what we have now.

He said he supported Skerrit when he first came to power and even served as Dominican ambassador under the government of Rosie Douglas. But he criticized how the DLP leader has managed the country’s resources and economy as well as how he managed the COVID-19 crisis without offering any stimulus packages to anyone in the entire country – yet “you took $64,000 a month in rent for a mansion on a hill…and left crumbs for Dominicans.”
In the same vein, former UWP leader Lennox Linton has declared that UWP will not take part in the December 6 snap elections because it is a “Skerrit election” and not a Dominica election. Likewise, sociologist Simeon Joseph disclosed that Skerrit called for elections before its due date to take advantage of the fact that opposition parties are now in disarray and almost rudderless.
