Skerrit Lambasts DSC Management over Delay in Resuming In-Person Classes
PM Skerrit has expressed displeasure over the erstwhile decision of the Dominica State University (DSC) to delay in-person classes at the institution. While the management had cancelled physical classes to allow for reconstruction of facilities damaged by Hurricane Maria, Skerrit argued online classes could have been a better alternative.
Personally, I do not agree with the State College for not commencing classes in January. They could have done so online and they could have done a better way of facilitating classes. I think they took a lazy person’s approach to this. I don’t accept this at all, I don’t agree with them, and as a former lecturer of the state college, I think they could have done much better to facilitate tuition at the college.
If you decide not to have classes, then why are you taking a salary then?
Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica
DSC announced that face-to-face classes would resume on Monday, February 27 and that new students would be welcomed on Tuesday, February 28. The management added that returning students would have their day on Wednesday, March 1, and that all students would enjoy a full classroom experience going forward.
The institution revealed that more than 500 furniture were repaired to accommodate the seating and writing needs of students and faculty throughout the school’s campuses.
