St. Mary Primary School Celebrated Boys’ Week with Exciting Activities
The boys and parents of St. Mary Primary School celebrated their Boys’ Week with various exciting activities. The central message that the boys and parents want to pass through the celebrations is that: boys are special. And the boys even displayed placards to drive home their message of specialness and love.
Vice Principal of the school, Pascal Mathew, said the theme for this year’s celebrations is “Empowering Boys”. He said all the activities outlined for the celebrations are targeted at raising the relevance of boys in the society and helping them to reach greater heights in life. According to him, the society tends to protect and draw more attention to the girl-child them to the boy-child. He said both sexes should be rated high in any society for things to move forward.
Mathew said the school manages up to 400 boys every day, and that the management has come to realize the importance of boys in every regard. He said that boys are amazing and that they are leaders who are special in whatever they do.
To drive home the importance of the occasion, the school got parents involved in the week celebrations. Fathers were invited to read to the boys in the class, interact with them over various occupations, and provide them with insights on becoming great men in life.
To this end, some for the week activities include –
- Monday – fathers were allowed to run the school assembly
- Tuesday – sports event between fathers and their boys
- Wednesay – class interactions with between fathers and boys
- Thursday – march through the streets of Roseau to sightsee
- Friday – boys will be treated to gifts and awards given to outstanding students
