Sukie Burn Brain Faces 5 Years in Grenadian Prison Following Assault Charges
Dominican artiste and entertainer, Shane Edwards, faces up to five years imprisonment in Grenadian prison following charges of indecent assault. Popularly known as Sukie Burn Brain, Edwards was arrested in Grenada on November 26, 2022, where he was billed to perform at a Fire & Ice event held at the Grenada National Cricket Stadium.
A guest at a resort hotel where Edwards was staying had filed a formal complaint of indecent assault with the police against the artiste. Edwards, 36, was picked up on Saturday by the police – the day he was billed to perform. The police denied him bail following charges of indecent assault, and he remained in custody till Monday when he was arraigned before Magistrate Teddy St. Louis in St. George.
Represented by attorney Peter David, the magistrate turned down Edwards bail application and he was remanded at the Richmond Hill prison in Grenada. His case was adjourned to Thursday, December 1, 2022, for hearing. In Grenada, the charge of indecent assault is slammed on an individual who has behaved in a manner contrary to sexual decency towards a complainant.
Earlier in September, Edwards was also arrested and detained in Dominica after a woman alleged he physically assaulted her. The musician was in custody for one month and was released in October after his bail conditions were perfected. He had been charged with threat and battery and his case is scheduled for hearing at the Roseau magistrate court on December 6, 2022.
In Grenada, Sukie Burn Brain had been billed to perform alongside another Dominican artist at a musical rave, Ridge, before his arrest and detention.
