Technical Consultation for UNs’ SDG Fund Joint Programme
The technical consultation for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Fund Joint Programme “Resilient livelihoods and food security through data, digitalization and sectoral linkages” is scheduled for Monday, 28th November 2022, at the Fort Young Hotel Roseau, Dominica.
During the consultation, the stakeholders will discuss ways to build the resilience of farmers, fishers, and vulnerable people, system and institutional capacity improvement of the agriculture and social protection sectors in a risk informed manner and their linkages, also alignment withgovernment’s ongoing and/or planned projects/initiatives.
The Joint Programme (JP) aims to contribute to resilient livelihoods and food security through data, digitalization and sectoral linkages. The two (2) year JP will draw on the power of data, information systems and sectoral linkages to mitigate the impacts of climate change and related shocks at the household, community, and national levels, promote and protect food security, livelihoods and strengthen resilience in a gender-responsive manner.
The JP Technical Consultation will be led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) jointly with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and officials from the Government of Dominica: Ministry of Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture and National Food Security, Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, Youth at Risk, Gender Affairs, Seniors Security and Dominicans with Disabilities, National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), Information Technology Services, Ministry of Public Works, Dominica Meteorological Services, Physical Planning Unit (PPU), Meteorological Services Office, Inter-American Institute for Cooperation (IICA), Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI).
