The Life and Legacy of Ferdina Frampton: A Beacon of Media Excellence in Dominica

Dominica bid a heartfelt farewell to Ferdina Frampton, a distinguished media personality, during a funeral service at Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church in Pointe Michel. Held on Monday, following her passing on January 17, 2024, at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital, the service commemorated her contributions and celebrated her life.

At 49, Frampton was remembered as a beacon in broadcasting, admired for her eloquence and dedication to her craft, attributes she inherited from her father, Ferdinand Frampton.

Fr. Herman Sharplis, who led the service, honored Frampton’s legacy by highlighting her commitment to fulfilling her divine purpose on Earth, leaving behind a life devoid of regrets. He underscored the importance of living fully and letting go of burdens, a philosophy Frampton embraced wholeheartedly.

Her tenure as Senior Marketing & Communications Lead at Cable & Wireless Communications (FLOW) Dominica since 2005 and her impactful work as an announcer and news reporter at DBS Radio were testament to her profound influence in the field of communication.

Frampton’s creation of the In the Spotlight Radio Show on Q95 FM Radio showcased her passion for sharing the stories of Dominican heroes and icons, further cementing her role as a cultural ambassador. Her involvement with the President’s Charities Foundation, the Dominica Red Cross, the National Queen Show Committee, and the Dominica Calypso Association reflected her diverse interests and commitment to her community.

Her final journey was marked by an outpouring of love and respect, with tributes from politicians, the President of Dominica, colleagues from Flow, schoolchildren, and the many lives she touched.

The funeral mass, co-officiated by Fr. Sharplis and Fr. Elton Letang, and her interment in her father’s grave in Pointe Michel, were fitting tributes to a woman whose life was a testament to joy, service, and excellence in her personal and professional endeavors.
