Juliette Lloyd, a former schoolteacher and philanthropist, has donated schoolbags to 82 pupils of the Castle Bruce Primary School. The school materials will start the students off on a good start as the 2019-2020 school year re-opens. The Lloyd family is known for donating helpful school materials to students of the school and sponsoring extracurricular activities in the school since 2000.
According to Juliette Lloyd who lost her husband Victorin in April 2018 following a ghastly auto accident, the family began to contribute to the academic and material welfare of students of Castle Bruce Primary School when their son, Chris Lloyd, represented the country in track and field events in 2000.
Ms. Lloyd was a former teacher at Castle Bruce Primary School herself. She revealed the family began showing affections to the school by giving pencils, candies and organizing motivational talks among others. But these donations have risen in value to schoolbags for primary students as well as secondary students who passed through the school.
Teachers, parents and pupils shower praises on the Lloyd family for their contributions to the welfare of students and growth of the school. They expressed their gratitude and the family in turn appreciates the feedback, saying they will be doing more in the coming years as much as God will help them.
Lloyd however tasked parents to develop a personal interest in the curricular life of their children, saying this should not be left to teachers during school hours alone. She advised parents to always follow-up on their wards’ school activities to determine their performances and areas for further development.
Jovin Joseph, principal for Castle Bruce Primary School, expressed deep gratitudes to the Lloyd family and encouraged other well-to-do families to emulate them by giving back to the school and their communities.
