The role of parents in the online education of their children is immense, and cannot be overemphasized. This assertion was made by Robert Guiste, a senior education officer in the Ministry of Education.
Guiste said there is a curriculum guide and several resources that parents and students can use on major websites. Many of these resources are downloadable and others are interactive in design so that students can directly respond to the prompts and challenges posed by the resource for knowledge advancement.
He noted that the education ministry is always reviewing these online resources as well as education websites to ensure that they are suitable for graded students and appropriate for passing target examinations. The senior education officer added that the ministry is also able to monitor given feedback on the curriculum with a view to making it better.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Jeffrey Blaize, said the government continues to work behind the scene to ensure that the educational needs of all Dominican students are met.
According to him, the ministry works to achieve a balance between the challenges students face with online education at home and those faced by officials of the Ministry of Education in designing the most interactive and helpful curriculum for students given the COVID-19 situation. He said the ministry in due time will administer an online survey to determine what students face in accessing helping resources online.
