Treating Case Scheduled For May 13; PM Skerrit Unperturbed and Confident
Given that the treating case against the DLP administration is coming up on May 13, PM Roosevelt Skerrit said he is not perturbed in any way and remains confident that the court will throw out the case for lack of merit. The DLP leader said the 2014 treating and bribery case is baseless and a total waste of court time and resources.
He made it clear that the complainants are only trying to distract his government from providing the dividends of democracy to the Dominican people. Skerrit said his government won the elections without rigging or exerting undue influence on anyone, and that the opposition is only fighting a lost battle. He made it clear that his distractors are only trying to raise dust where there is none, and their claims are nonsensical at best without solid evidences.
But one of the complainants in the treating case, Mervin Jno Baptiste, blamed Attorney Anthony Astaphan for reportedly unleashing some verbal attacks on his person. According to Baptiste, Astaphan claimed in a statement that he (Baptiste) is avoiding legal officers who were out to serve him with papers. The complainant said this is not true and that Astaphan is only lying through his teeth. He vowed to fight the case to a logical conclusion.
