Treneese Hamilton Wins Gold at Shotput at 2022 CARIFTA Games in Jamaica

Treneese Hamilton has won gold for Dominica at the 2022 CARIFTA Games in Jamaica. Hamilton won the gold medal for shotput – a field event in which a heavy metal ball is hurled as far as possible – by recording 14.58m on her first throw.

Britannia Johnson of Jamaica won silver with a best throw of 14.19m and Alicia Grootfaame of Suriname won bronze with a best throw of 12.97m.

Hamilton achieved the feat at her last feature for the Under-20 girls game. She expressed joy at her winning and noted that she is eager to represent Dominica in other international competitions.

The shotputter said her gold winning will motivate athletes in Dominica to put in their best performance at all sporting events. She challenged other sportsmen and sportswomen across the country to make the Nature Isles proud by going for gold.
