TUD Picks Election Candidates; Says Skerrit Should Return in 15 Years
Team Unity Dominica (TUD) has asked PM Roosevelt Skerrit to resign and possibly return in 15 years. The newest political party in Dominica said it has identified six candidates to contest the next general elections and to take over from the ruling DLP administration. TUD’s general secretary, Alex Bruno, said Skerrit is tired and should take a bow after ruling the country for 20 for a new crop of leaders to emerge.
Enough is enough of one leader of a country going over 20 years – and there is no one here or those who will go against this statement. We love our prime minister, but we love Dominica more. Let him take a break; he is tired. Give TUD a chance and maybe he can return in 10 or 15 years. He is still young.

Bruno made this state during TUD’s launch over the weekend in Calibishie. He made it clear that TUD will not contest for the entire 21 seats in parliament, but enough to win as a major political movement. He declared that the new political party has enough candidates to run a full-fledged national government, and that the candidates and TUD’s new political leader will be unveiled before the next general elections.
According to the political scientist, TUD will lay the foundation of an inclusive Dominican agenda by establishing a system of two terms in office. He said it is high time all parties set in motion a government machinery that will harmonize the people and channel national resources for the good of the common people. Bruno said TUD is not a splinter group of any political party, but a new movement geared at harmonizing Dominicans for peace and progress.
The urgency of this demands that we replace the prolonged partisan incumbency on both sides of the divide – both the majority and the minority – the urgency of now asks that we remove that dead weight, which stands in the way of meaningful people’s progress. We are here with a message. We intend to propose a series of strategies that could be used to effectively execute that message.

TUD said its first policy will focus on youth empowerment, accommodation, and wealth acquisition for all Dominicans within and outside the Island.
