Tyler-Ann Hunter wins Dominica Council on Ageing Essay Competition

12-Year-Old Tyler-Ann Hunter of Goodwill made history. She is the first participant to win the Dominica Council on Ageing Inc. Essay Competition, held during the Month of the Elderly in September.

She won from a total of 13 submissions open to children between the ages of 10 – 15. Staying within the maximum of 500 words, Tyler-Ann expressed her views on the topic provided: How Can Young People Assist the Elderly in Making Better Use of Digital Technology”.

Entries came from various villages across the island with 15-year-old Ayodelle David from Pointe Michel placing second, and D’Janoah Dangleben from Grandbay – 14 years old placing third.

A special prize was also presented to 10-year-old Gabrielle Esprit from Belfast. The DCOA Inc. will share the top essays on their website.

The Council was satisfied with the levels of writing and also with the response, despite the pandemic to, from the students who participated.
