UWP’s Anette Thomas-Sanford Says She Rejected $120K Cos She’s Not For Sale

UWP’s Anette Thomas-Sanford said she rejected $120,000 from the DLP because she’s a patriot and would not be bought. Pushing to represent the Salybia constituency in the coming elections, Thomas-Sanford said DLP handlers approached her with cash and job offers in order for her to drop her candidacy on the UWP platform, but she turned this down for conscience sake.

Following her launch in the Kalinago Territory, Thomas-Sanford revealed that DLP strategists promised to reinstate her nursing service with instant promotion within two days if she would withdraw from the race as the UWP candidate, and this is aside the $120,000 cash she would receive for complying. But she said she refused the offer because she would never surrender her pride where the people of Salybia and the Kalinago are concerned.

“I am pleased to inform you that I flatly rejected the offer,” Thomas-Sanford revealed. “I am a patriot and stand on principle and as such, I won’t be purchased by the purchaser-in-chief: Roosevelt Skerrit. A $120,000 is not enough for me to surrender my pride. I, Anette Thomas Sanford, do not and will never, ever be bought.”

Thomas-Sanford referred to the instance where Dr. Theodore Thomas, a Kalinago health official and a foremost surgeon, has not had his contract renewed because the Ministry of Health under the DLP administration failed to ratify the contract renewal. She accused the DLP of not living up to the expectations of the people, saying the UWP under the leadership of Lennox Linton is better position to take the people to the Promise Land.

Thomas-Sanford listed some of the plans the Team Dominica has under the UWP platform to include establishing the Kalinago Development Corporation, self-empowerment for indigenous peoples in the Territory and those in Salybia, small and medium business enterprise development, community tourism, revitalization of the agricultural sector, social and recreational facilities for all, job empowerment, construction of a technical institution, and instituting a Kalinago Week national festival among other things.

Linton referred to Thomas-Sanford as a righteous Kalinagoan who would not sell her birthright for a morsel of bread. He said the constituents in Salybia and those in the entire Kalinago Territory believe in her transparency as well as credentials to work for the betterment of the people.  He urged the people to vote for her in the coming December 6 elections as with other candidates contesting on the UWP platform.
