UWP Leadership Calls For Attendance or Donation for Public Rally on May 31

The leadership of the United Workers Party (UWP) has called on all Dominicans to attend a public rally scheduled for Wednesday, May 31. UWP Leader, Dr. Thomson Fontaine, asked Dominicans to be physically present at the event or to donate towards the success of the outing.

Fontaine urged people within and outside the country to donate through UWP’s website or by visiting the party’s office in Roseau. He revealed that the clamour for electoral reform will take centrestage during the rally and that Dominicans must demand for electoral reform for constitutional changes and political freedom.

“All of Dominica can agree on the need for electoral reform,” Fontaine maintained. “That is not a crafty issue; that is what has got to do with everything in Dominica. And if every Dominican can agree to it, then it can be done.”

He went on to give out the bank account number of the UWP for people to pay into with a promise that every donation will be accounted for and used to further the demand for electoral reform.

Meanwhile, the president of the Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU), Steve Joseph, said the case for electoral reform should not be handled like a cat-and-mouse game, but should be given all the attention it deserves until it becomes a reality in the Nature Isle. He tasked Dominicans to be liberal-minded as they unite together in their pursuits to see a new government that is pro-masses emerge in the country.
