Veteran Journalist and Businessman Parry Bellot Dies at DCFH
Veteran journalist and businessman Parry Bellot is dead. He had been hospitalized at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) for about one week before his demise. The cause of his death is yet to be made public.
A popular caller to radio programmes, Bellot started his career in journalism in 1976 and began publishing the Link News magazine in 1977. He worked as press secretary to former PM Dame Eugenia Charles in the 1980s and later became a consultant to the Roosevelt Skerrit’s administration.
The outspoken public figure was a founding member of the Dominica Media and Communications Association and the founder of Parbel Enterprises. Earlier this year, he was embroiled in a political dispute with the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) and threatened to file a lawsuit for defamation of character.
Bellot is believed to be above the age of 70 and survived by wife Claudia and many children and grandchildren. His family is yet to announce the plans for his burial.
