West Indies Beats Bangladesh by 35 Runs at the T20 Played At Windsor Park

Bangladesh has suffered defeat at the hands of West Indies in the T20 cricket tournament played at the Windsor Park Stadium over the weekend. West Indies ultimately won the game by 35 runs which Bangladesh could not recover from till the end of the match. The overall atmosphere of the game was that of a carnival given the thousands of Dominicans who attended over the two days it held – despite the disruptive rains.

West Indies batted first and posted 193 points for 5 wickets. Rovman Powell top scored with an unbeaten 61 from 28 balls with 6 sixes and 4 fours and was supported by Brendan King with 57 and Captain Nicholas Pooran, 35.

Shoriful Islam managed to take 2 for 31 for Bangladesh. The visiting team got to 158 for wickets in more than 20 overs even though they fought to reach 194 to match the points of West Indies. Shakib Al Hasan scored 68 not out and Afif Hossain scored 34.

Romario Shephard got 2 for 28 and Obed McCoy got 2 for 37 when they bowled for West Indies.

With their defeat to West Indies, both teams travelled on Monday to Guyana where the third and final match will hold. As it stands, West Indies is leading with 1-0 in the series.

In his reaction, Minister of State for Telecommunications and Broadcasting, Oscar George, said thousands of Dominicans had fun at the stadium and credited PM Roosevelt Skerrit for supporting the technical committee to upgrade the standards of the stadium for the cricket match to hold. He added that a ministerial sub-committee was put in place to oversee the preparation of the stadium and other activities related to the success of the game.
