Workshop Paves the Way for GEF-Funded Eco-Tourism Project in Kalinago Space
The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy the executing agency for the GEF funded project Leveraging Eco-tourism for Biodiversity Protection together with the Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernization, Kalinago Upliftment and Constituency Empowerment hosted a one-day workshop in the Kalinago Space in preparation for the imminent start for implementation of the Project.
The Workshop took place on Monday September 11th 2023 at the Kalinago Barana Aute in the Kalinago Territory
The Objectives of the Workshop Were to:
- To bring the Kalinago people up to-date with the pending start of the Project
- To discuss ways and means of developing synergies between this Project and the other development projects already under consideration for the Territory
- To avoid duplication of activities across projects
- To identify challenges to implementation and critically to maximize on the use of scarce resources
Participants will be drawn primarily from among the leadership in the Kalinago Space to include the Kalinago Council, the wider Kalinago community as well as representatives from several Government related agencies such as the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Tourism.
