You Are Prostituting Your Child – Claude Weekes Tells Parents of Rape Victims
ASP Claude Weekes has spoken out against parents of sexually-molested children who collect hush money to withdraw court cases. The police prosecutor said it is disheartening that police investigators would charge a child molester to court, but parents would turn around to withdraw the cases after collecting hush payments.

The assistant police superintendent also expressed dissatisfaction for the length of time it takes to fully prosecute a child-rape case. He said the justice system prolongs a rape case for as long as eight years before convicting and sentencing a child rapist. He cried that subjecting a child to such harrowing experience is bad when the victim and their loved ones expect closure.
I am telling you that you must be careful how you treat our children. A child cannot be sexually abused and it takes six, seven, or eight years before the case is called. I always believe that the justice system should expedite these matters a bit quicker.

Weekes emphasized that men and women who abuse children in a reprehensible manner should face justice without delay. He added that justice delayed is justice denied, and that the legal system should speed up hearing and handing out sentences in any criminal case.
Weekes made this assertion while speaking on the theme “Men Breaking the Silence on Domestic Violence”at the annual men’s rally organized by the Methodist Church.
Earlier last year, President Charles Savarin cited a 20% increase in the number of child sexual abuse, child neglect, domestic abuse, incest, and teenage pregnancy in Dominica. He warned that no child should be subjected to physical and mental torture in any manner and that parents and guidance should put measures in place to protect all Dominican children.
