Zero COVID-19 Cases in Dominica; Skerrit Praises Structured Safety Approach
PM Roosevelt Skerrit said there are zero COVID-19 cases in Dominica. The Ministry of Health stated that 31 people are currently undergoing observation in quarantine, but no single contact is being investigated for potential infection.
Skerrit said Dominica is able to achieve this feat because of the health and safety rigors applied by the government. According to him, Dominica is able to eliminate the coronavirus pandemic because of the dedication of healthcare workers and the structured approach implemented by the government.
“We can now proudly say that we have no active cases of Covid-19,” Skerrit said. “This week we achieved a most significant breakthrough in our fight against Covid-19. We have all played our part to keep our numbers low and the results of this commitment are clear.”
The government leader recalled that the first positive case was recorded in March 2020, and that the health ministry executed health and safety protocols that saved the nation from doom. He appreciated frontline health workers and the entire populace for playing their parts to eliminate the pandemic from Dominica.
Meanwhile, DPSU General Secretary Thomas Letang is decrying the situation where medical doctors have not been paid their salaries for two months. He stated that doctors and healthcare workers put their lives on the line to save people’s lives and that they should be paid their salaries without delay.
